Professional Experience & Biography
Dr. Tan Kian Hua is a scholar-practitioner at the intersection of enterprise cyber defence, artificial intelligence security governance, and data privacy law. With more than fifteen years of operational leadership across government-classified and commercially regulated environments — including tenure as Chief Information Security Officer under Singapore Government, overseeing national Security Operation Center environments — he brings to the academy a depth of practitioner authority that is exceptional among faculty in management and information systems disciplines. He has directed multi-region Security Operation Center strategy across Singapore, Hong Kong, and India; led end-to-end incident response for Severity 1 cyber events; and developed proprietary AI and AGI security assessment frameworks subsequently commercialised within enterprise cybersecurity portfolio. His programmes have been delivered across more than twenty countries.
Formally credentialled in Management Information Systems (PhD, LIGS University), Computer Technology Law, and executive programmes in Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Tan holds certifications encompassing CISM, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor, AWS Certified Security Specialist, and Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert. As founding architect of the LIGS School of Cybersecurity, he supervises doctoral candidates in cybersecurity governance, AI ethics, and risk management. He expects prospective candidates to demonstrate intellectual rigour, methodological independence, and a commitment to research that advances both scholarly theory and applied security practice.
