Rukmini Borooah Pyatt

Dr. Rukmini Borooah Pyatt is a higher education professional with an interdisciplinary background in Management, Social Work, and Career Development. From the early beginnings of her career as a youth in her place of origin in Assam, India, she has initiated, facilitated, and managed leadership development projects, including income generation programs, self-development workshops, and community development programs. After immigrating to Ontario, Canada, in 2004, Rukmini has worked with highly skilled, internationally trained professionals from over 75 countries at the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, coordinating various employment and settlement projects, providing career and employment consulting, mentorship, counseling, and coaching, as well as supervising graduate and undergraduate students from various university programs in Canada. From 2014 onwards, Rukmini ventured into teaching, first as a teaching assistant at the University of Guelph and then from 2017 onwards, in her current role as Professor, School of Interdisciplinary Studies at Conestoga College, Ontario. Rukmini considers herself to be a lifelong learner, and as an educator, her goal is to make complex topics more relatable for her students while creating memorable and enjoyable learning experiences together with her students. Towards this purpose, Rukmini often uses arts methodologies and other engaging techniques in her teaching, facilitation, and presentations.
