The Royal Family

As we speak about the UK, we can’t forget to mention the Royal family, that’s much appreciated and loved by any British citizen. Or, even the world.

The history of the Royal Family in the UK is a tale woven through centuries of tradition, triumphs, and challenges. The institution dates back to the early medieval period. The monarchy’s significance grew during the Tudor era, with iconic figures like Henry VIII and Elizabeth I leaving an indelible mark. The British Empire’s expansion during the 18th and 19th centuries further solidified the monarchy’s influence.

The 20th century witnessed dramatic changes, including two world wars and the gradual evolution of the monarchy’s role. Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch, has provided stability and continuity since 1952. The Royal Family’s engagements, charity work, and ceremonial duties continue to capture the nation’s attention and forge connections worldwide.

Despite occasional controversies and debates over the monarchy’s role, it remains an enduring symbol of British identity and tradition. The Royal Family’s history serves as a reflection of the country’s evolution, and its future will undoubtedly shape the narrative of the United Kingdom for generations to come.

Shakespeare and literature impact

UK literature has had a profound impact on the world, producing some of the most celebrated authors in history. From Shakespeare’s timeless plays to the works of Dickens, Austen, and Rowling, British literature showcases a diverse range of genres and styles, captivating readers across generations with its richness and depth.

“To be, or not to be, that is the question:

Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,

And by opposing end them.”

What is it like to live in the UK? Our Students say:

“It feels homely where we live, yet multicultural when you travel particularly in London. The U.K. is fast becoming a melting pot of International cultures.

England is Welcoming and caring. Relatively safe, free, and fairly low crime in comparison to many countries. Our Royal family and our political system are what I appreciate the most. The only “negatives” could be the weather of course. Some might say we are quite a racist country, but I wouldn’t believe so. My favorite place to visit is Edinburgh in Scotland. It has a lovely feel to it.”
