Muganda Munir Manini
Dr. Muganda Munir is a Senior Lecturer of Finance and Director of Quality Assurance. He holds a PhD in Finance and Accounting is a Chartered Public Accountant with more than 10 years’ experience and the proven ability to increase profits, minimize financial risk and strengthen market positions through the use of financial analytics. As a specialist in financial and human capital development, Dr. Munir work has focused on human interventions amongst companies across East Africa on optimal solutions for being competitive. Previously, he has been involved in various projects of rolling out financial literacy programmes to SMEs. As an alumnus of the World Bank Institute and International Trade Centre his key research interests include quality management systems, financial sector analysis and policy; economic analysis of investments; labour markets and income distribution issues, with emphasis on multiple dimensions of poverty, youth employment and economic sustainability.
His teaching and research interests range widely including; auditing, banking, corporate finance, financial governance and financial economic theory providing him with the opportunity to draw connections between the theory and practice and to communicate financial concepts clearly to students at all levels. He believes his experiences and commitment to research and teaching make me well qualified to be an effective researcher in your faculty. His teaching philosophy reflects commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to teaching, and all of his courses are structured with this in mind. Further, he takes great pride in training of young scholars, and I feels that it is his responsibility to uphold these standards and to encourage and challenge students to work up to their potential, in the hope that their experiences will teach them to be astute professionals.
He has immense public sector consultancy experience gained from projects funded by European Union, UNESCO/UNEVOC, Germany Development Bank (KFW), East African Community (EAC), Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). Dr. Munir has extensive University teaching and research experience, including supervision of postgraduate students and has published widely in banking, finance and economics journals.
