New Faces of LIGS University | Michaela Musilova the Head of Study Department

Michaela is the newest addition to LIGS University team, and we are so happy to have her. She will take over the study department as its head. In her past endeavors, she worked, as a Talent expert and as a Learning and Development specialist for Uniliver. She started in HR but found her calling in learning management. We hope you’ll enjoy her company as much as we all do!

Welcome to our LIGS community, Michaela. Could you tell us a bit about yourself, what you like to do in your free time and what you are most looking forward to doing with LIGS?

Michaela Musilová

Thank you for the welcome. I am happy to be part of LIGS. What I’m most looking forward to now is getting to know the whole team in person (not just online) and having lunch with my colleagues from the Study Department.

In my spare time, I like to plan trips that never end up going as planned (but are all the more interesting for it). I usually take them on foot or by bike, and I like to combine trips to the countryside with stops for good food and coffee. Last but not least, I also like to relax by reading fiction or working in the garden. 

Do you have an unusual talent that few people know about (What is your hidden talent)? What are your strengths?

I consider myself being assertive and not afraid to tackle uncomfortable topics. Sometimes out of three options, I choose the fourth one. I can think logically. I like facts. I am practical, consistent, responsible, and I want to see tangible results of my/my team’s work. 

In the past, you have worked mainly in HR and recruitment-related roles. What tempted you to change the course of your career?

I was attracted by the change itself, discovering a new area related to education, which is my heart, and the opportunity to be more actively involved in the company development.

What will be one of your key responsibilities as Head of Study Department?

I will focus on stabilizing and motivating the Study Team, which has undergone many changes in the previous year. In addition, I will soon be working on the introduction of a new information system and the associated process changes. I would also like to cover the communication with the lecturing team.

Which area would you like to focus on most in your cooperation with LIGS University?

In addition to the above, I want to ensure that the programs we offer are in line with the requirements of the 2020s. And maintain a high level of quality care for our students.

One of your goals is to strengthen LIGS University’s conference production. Do you have any concrete plans yet?

It would be premature to describe specific plans. However, we do plan to focus on creating new virtual conferences and introduce several this year.

What’s one thing you think is true that very few people would agree with?

That women are smarter than men.

Would you say you get along well with people? Are you planning on recruiting new lecturers for the LIGS University team? 

I would say yes, and I believe that’s how I see my surroundings. I enjoy working and discussing with people, and I try to listen and get along. I sometimes have high standards and tend to be less diplomatic than the situation would require, but my husband has been coaching me (hopefully successfully) in this area for a couple of years now.

We would like to recruit new tutors to LIGS University who meet high academic standards and have experience in a variety of fields, not just business. We believe this will continue to ensure the high quality of our programs.

Who would you like to recruit to the LIGS University team of lecturers? Do you have a dream collaboration?

The likes of Elon Musk, Mary Barra, Bill or Melinda Gates, Christine Lagarde, or Barrack Obama would certainly make a great addition to our team.

And one last question for you. Can you tell us about your plans for the academic development of LIGS University? 

We would like to develop our programs and academic facilities more in the coming years. We are expecting so many changes in the field of program offerings and composition, collaboration with lecturers, and changes in internal processes. The current situation poses a lot of challenges and changes, so we have a lot of beautiful work ahead of us.
